Dr. Kimberly Maino would be the first to tell you that family is important. In fact, in 2019, she relocated to the Charleston area with her husband, daughter and family pet, just to be closer to loved ones.
However, moving back east has not been a totally new experience. With degrees from the U.S. Naval Academy and MUSC, plus a residency at Bethesda/Walter Reed and time spent as a consultant for the White House clinic, this board-certified dermatologist knows her way up and down the East coast.
Dr. Maino’s specialty as an experienced MOHS surgeon has made her a valuable addition to the Dermatology & Laser Center of Charleston.
“MOHS micrographic surgery is the most effective technique for treating many basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas,” she explained.
An avid outdoors person herself, Dr. Maino warned that skin cancer cases are increasing due to more unprotected time outside, tanning salons and even the simple fact that people are living longer. She looks forward to meeting and treating patients with skin care concerns in the days ahead – when she’s not spending time with family, that is.
