Who or what inspires you each day?
I am inspired by the many women and mothers who are taking care of children, aging parents, other family members and careers. A woman’s financial health is just as important as physical health, so if I can make that process easier and less stressful, then I have had a positive impact.
How did your business get started?
I’ve worked in the financial industry for more than 25 years for large firms like Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Citi Private Bank, and after all this time, current statistics show that women still aren’t getting the education they need to be confident in their financial security. Part of the challenge is that 80% of all financial advisors in the country are men. I wanted to create a different type of firm where my mission is to provide unbiased education and not manage their money for them. This way, women are able to make good decisions for themselves for a lifetime.
What is the most rewarding part of your business?
Helping women feel more confident about money and investing topics. I love hearing clients say, “I wish I knew this sooner,” or “I finally get it; no one ever explained this to me that way before.”
Any advice for other women starting out in business?
Use technology as much as possible to automate any part of your business. It may take more time to set up in the beginning, but it will help you grow quickly. Invest in your own learning, and, when the money allows, hire someone to handle areas that aren’t your specialty. Lastly, find opportunities to collaborate with like-minded business owners to help each other grow.
