Outdoor living spaces in the South Carolina Lowcountry are generally the hub of activity for any Southern family. Backyards, patios, poolside, front porches, docks and many other outdoor spaces are longing for the expertise and one-of-a-kind touch by the staff at Backyard Retreats Inc.
Established in 1996, Backyard Retreats has become the go-to for residents because of the top-quality selections, as well as the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
“I have an excellent staff with our own delivery crews,” said Sharon Campbell, president and owner of Backyard Retreats. “We have qualified sales people who are great and dedicated. Many have been with me for a long time, and I can’t say enough about them. My daughter, Darla Miller, joined the business when she was in college, and she developed a passion for the furniture. She is my right hand.”
Backyard Retreats only offers quality outdoor furniture. “Our environment in the Lowcountry is hard,” explained Campbell. “You don’t want to invest in disposable furniture because it won’t last. I travel regularly to our manufacturers in Chicago and North Carolina so that I know we only offer the best.”
Wicker furniture that Backyard Retreats offers is not your grandmother’s wicker — it is durable and made to last. Virtually maintenance-free, you’ll also find polymer furniture such as Adirondacks, chaise lounges, rockers and buffet tables.
Aluminum cast furniture is where elegance meets durability, with designs like metropolitan deep seating or an Aruba nine-piece dining group. Backyard Retreats carries IPE wood furniture that is incredibly strong and dense. Additionally, Backyard Retreats has a plethora of accessories: umbrellas, accent pillows, candles, rugs, lamps, fabrics for custom cushions and many more items.
Exterior design is their passion in helping clients figure out how best to utilize their outdoor space. “We can go to the location, take measurements and analyze space, and we will then provide a design plan for their outdoor furniture. We have customers in the entire tri-county area,” said Miller, executive manager. “We get to know our customers, listen to their wants and needs and eventually many of our clients become our friends.”
Locally owned and operated, Backyard Retreats believes in putting your mind at ease. Campbell and her staff encourage anyone interested in creating an outdoor retreat to visit their store on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard in Mount Pleasant.
“We have proven our spot in the community by carrying the best
products,” finished Campbell. “I think as the Lowcountry continues to
grow, we will grow right along with it.”
