Melanie Keen discovered her passion for dance at nine years old, when she saw the ballet “Sleeping Beauty” on television. It was an awakening that would eventually materialize into The Dance Arts Studio.
Now beginning its 19th season, The Dance Arts Studio offers a full menu of dance classes for dancers aged 2 to 82. Besides classical ballet, tap and jazz, the studio also offers hip hop, musical theater and contemporary.
“Anyone that comes into our studio is treated as if they are in our home. Kids, especially, need to feel important, loved and valued,” Keen explained.
This encouraging environment is what has allowed the studio to bloom and grow throughout the years. Not only are dancers supported with a rigorous curriculum, they gain life skills by being part of a dance corps. The Dance Arts Studio emphasizes technique — an essential for dancer training.
They also prioritize teamwork, preparation and concentration. Registration for the 2020-2021 season will be available on the website or during their open house. Classes begin August 17.
