When did you decide to go into the business?
My husband has always been in the food business. When we decided to move to Mount Pleasant, we knew that it would be the perfect place for our dream to come true. We opened a small coffee shop where we can share our favorite coffee and food with the community. We pride ourselves on having authentic Italian coffee as well as delicious desserts prepared by my husband, the chef.
Tell us about your mentors.
My biggest mentor in life is my mom. She has been someone that I have always looked up to because regardless of what challenges come her way, she is always able to get back up and become stronger. She and I have always been together, and if it wasn’t for her, I don’t know how I would have survived the war. Moving to South Carolina is the first time I have been this far from her, but I make sure to talk to her daily.
What challenges did you overcome to get where you are today?
One of our biggest challenges was the pandemic. The shortage of workers, increase in prices and difficulty ordering food made us worry. Now things are better. We can thank our strong support system and our customers for thriving as a business.
What is a piece of advice for young women?
Never give up. There will always be people ready to knock you down. You need to believe in yourself so much that regardless how much their words and actions hurt, you don’t let them affect you.
