As an active teenage girl in high school, sometimes I move too fast to think about my own well-being. It causes me to become anxious. I have found that the only thing that brings me true peace is my faith. Faith, in the Oxford English Dictionary, is described as, “a complete trust in someone or something.” I completely trust in my Lord and Savior. As I have gone through three years struggling with my anxiety, God has shown me a powerful verse. The verse says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6.
Due to the fact that this verse has affected me so greatly and radically changed my perspective, I love to find opportunities to share it with others. I attend weekly services at The Church at LifePark. Here, I was given the opportunity to lead a group of sixth grade girls on Sunday mornings. They are a diverse and intelligent group of young ladies. Hearing their thoughts about life and God is inspiring to me as their leader. As I watch from the sidelines of their life, I can relate to what they are experiencing. Their issues are similar to what I went through. I share this verse with them because it changed my life and I pray it can change theirs. The people who surround me and the faith I have in God brings me peace when I have anxious thoughts.
