Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Michele Hensel has always had the drive and commitment to pursue her dream of helping others. With a strong desire to do something in the medical field, Hensel graduated from the Georgia Heart Institute and took her first job as a registered cardiovascular invasive specialist in 1995. One of only a few in her field at the time, Hensel decided to also satisfy her creative side by starting a side business of her own. Fast forward to 2019, and Hensel’s strong work ethic and business intuition
has paid off, as she has been the proud owner of Lowcountry Beauty and Wellness Spa for more than a decade.
Since 2008, Hensel has grown what was initially a service providing affordable weight loss to a multifaceted practice offering everything from skin tightening, Infrared Sauna teeth whitening, microblading, lash lifts and more.
“We concentrate on great skin-care products and services. We also recently introduced IV therapy to our practice and can help with anxiety, depression and even hair growth,” Hensel explained. “Our newest addition to the spa is the Lash, Brow and Botox Bar.”
Affiliated with Lowcountry Plastic Surgery Center in Mount Pleasant, Hensel said they are the one-stop beauty experts. Continuously researching and educating themselves on the newest technology, they strive to make sure their patients have the right services and receive the best noninvasive and nonsurgical procedures, all under one roof. In all, there are 10 caring and supportive staff members whose main goals are to help patients look and feel their best.
Hensel and her team are trained to pick the right procedures for the right patients. The weight-loss program and the skintightening procedure are two of the most popular choices. “Weight loss is amazing because you lose half to one pound per day,” Hensel explained. “And Venus Freeze is wonderful for skin tightening; the results are absolutely incredible.” The spa has won several awards over the years — most recently, being named the Best Weight Loss and Med Spa by City Paper readers.
With a mission of helping people feel their best, Hensel has achieved much success since opening Lowcountry Beauty and Wellness Spa. She also now operates several other practices within the company including The Manor, The Lash Brow and The Botox Bar. With hard work, life balance and the willingness to invest in others, Hensel is committed to share those positive attributes by not only transforming bodies but also her client’s emotional well-being as well.
“Making people look and feel their best and putting a smile on their face is what we strive to do,” Hensel added. “I wholeheartedly believe in what I do, love my family with every beat of my heart and work every day at creating something that will give others a new perspective in their own lives.”
