Since 1999 — that is almost 25 years now — the Mount Pleasant Towne Centre has served millions of shoppers. This 510,000-square-foot, open-air shopping destination has over 65 national and local retail stores and restaurants. Many of the stores are well-known brands such as Belk, Buckle, Chico’s, GAP, LOFT, lululemon, LUSH, Versona and Victoria’s Secret, but there are also incredible specialty boutiques such as Lizard Thicket, Millie Lynn, Vestique, Sweetgrass & Sand Dollars and Hairy Winston Pet Boutique.
The shopping hub also offers several restaurants, the Regal Palmetto Grande movie theater, the Hyatt Place hotel and a beautiful greenspace illuminated with events and performances. A curated mix of shopping, chef-driven dining, nice accommodations, community-inspired events and welcoming gathering spots draws locals and visitors alike to soak up the luxury of Lowcountry living.

Just in the past three years, there have been many amazing additions to Towne Centre: Condado Tacos, Ballard Designs, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Tweedle Beedle, Little Palmetto Pearl, Malika Pakistani Chai Canteen and Ivy & Leo. They are looking forward to even more announcements in 2024.
Towne Centre is the heart of the community — the center of Mount Pleasant both literally and figuratively. Almost every event held there benefits a local charitable organization such as the Charleston Animal Society, Camp Rise Above, Just Bee or the Roper St. Francis Foundation. They continually look for ways to give back; that is what makes Towne Centre so special.
In April, May, September and October, the Centre hosts a SWEAT Fitness Series every Wednesday night and the Live Under the Oaks concert series each Thursday evening at The Oaks (its park across from Barnes & Noble). The Paws on the Patio to benefit the Charleston Animal Society is held the second Thursday in March, April, May, September, October and November at Burtons Grill & Bar. Upcoming events currently scheduled are: the Pup Bowl VII on Saturday, February 10 from 12 to 3 p.m., ArtFest on Saturday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Town Centre’s 25th Birthday Bash T.B.A in April. Also in April, is the special Lights & Love event for families with children on the spectrum on April 28.
Parking is always free. Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is located at 1218 Belk Drive in Mount Pleasant and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
