CW: When did you decide to go into the business you are in?
“In 2019, I received an Internet lead after having been a Realtor for just six months with Carolina One. I scheduled the showing with the potential buyer and met him at the property. I arrived early and immediately felt uncomfortable about the area and safety of the neighborhood. When the buyer arrived, we went inside to view the property, and he got on his cell phone. A few minutes later, a truck drove up and two men jumped on the porch. I was in a vulnerable situation alone in a home with three strangers. My heart stopped when I realized at that moment, no one knows where I am or who I am with. Thankfully, nothing happened to me that day, but other Realtors have not been as lucky. This was a pivotal point — I researched safety solutions, and everything I found fell short. So, I created my own: the SafeShowings app for Realtors and the FaceSnap app for everyday safety. Both apps empower users to proactively take control of their safety when alone with a stranger and are available for iOS and Android.”
CW: How do you find your passion?
“For the past 20 years I have been searching for my purpose in life. What can I do to make a difference in this world? God revealed my purpose to me that day when I was in a very vulnerable situation with three men. My passion is driven by the ability to offer apps that could save someone’s life. My apps can deter criminals from committing a crime or murdering someone, and I know that can make a difference.”
CW: What habits do you implement in day-to-day life that you attribute to success?
“I have two business partners, a wonderful marketing manager, development team and mentors that I learn from daily. I have been surrounded by supportive people and other entrepreneurs facing the same challenges. Creating awareness of my product/solution for the past three years has been a huge focus.”
CW: Tell us about how you grew up and what or who shaped you into the woman you are today.
“I am blessed to have had wonderful parents. I am the middle child and have an older sister and younger brother. I learned from our parents’ different attributes. My dad always taught me to ‘do it right the first time’ and ‘put it where you found it’ and ‘learn to master a few good jokes.’ My mom taught me how to ‘love unconditionally’ and to ‘value great friendships.’ Both would be proud of my accomplishments as an entrepreneur.”
